HELP OSA SEARCH

You can search the database for musical works and lyrics using a number of different criteria. We recommend that you first enter the title of the work or its ISWC code.

For a more precise search, you can add an additional search condition, such as the author's IPI code, the author's/publisher's name or the artist's name.

The database search works on the principle of a partial or literal search.
• In a literal search, the system searches the database and returns only results that match the exact query – use this option only if you know the exact title of the work or its ISWC code.
• If you do not know the exact title of the work you are looking for or its ISWC code, use the "begins with" and "contains" options. In this case, the system searches the database for all records that begin with or contain the search terms.

HOW TO SEARCH FOR WORKS USING THE AXIS SEARCH

Basic search criteria

  • Title of work – the system will search for works by their title.
  • ISWC – the system will search for works by ISWC code.
  • Contains – fill in if you know only part of the title.

  • For example, if you enter the words "nuts", the system will return all records that contain the word "nuts".
  • Begins with – if you select this condition, the system will return all records that begin with the word(s) you specify.
  • Exact Name – if you select this condition, the system will display all records with the name you specify.
For example: If you enter the words "Three Nuts for Cinderella", the system will return all records with the title "Three Nuts for Cinderella".

Advanced search

  • IPI – the system will only search for works by the author to whom this unique code belongs.
  • Author/Publisher Name – the system will search for the author or publisher name.
  • Artist name – the system will search for the artist name.
  • Contains – fill in if you only know part of the author's, publisher's or performer's name.
  • Begins with – complete if you only know the surname of the author or performer or part of the publisher's name.
  • Full – fill in and the system will display the results exactly as you enter them.
